For over 12 years, my husband and I have been building some very unique structures on the Aravaipa ranch property - a large main house and two detached guest suites with the goal of opening a Bed and Breakfast in the next couple of years.
The main house at the Walker Family Ranch in Aravaipa Canyon was designed by Barbi Crisp the award winning architect specializing in healing spaces. The house and completed guest suite stands on the bank of the Aravaipa creek. The views of the creek and the dramatic mountainous escarpment beyond it are sensational.
The house and the completed guest suite have been ingeniously made of corregated steel around through a wild mesquite tree bosque. The steel has been left to patina and has turned a rich copper and mahogany brown blending into the landscape, hidden and unseen.
You enter the house by crossing a metal bridge over a water feature right outside the door, giving the impression of walking into a mine shaft. The mountains surrounding the main house are replete with copper and silver mines giving the inspiration for the house itself. The bathrooms have waterfall showers and exquisite hand crafted ceramic basins made by local artists. In the adjacent guest suite you can lie in your bed and gaze at the lush desert or look up into a window above the bed to view the stars at night and clouds drift by during the day.
The Walker Family Ranch in Aravaipa Canyon is planning to open when the second guest suite is finished. This second suite is in design and will sit atop the mountain behind the main house with with incredible views into the canyon and Brandenburg mountain to the North.
